AEB: Russian car, LCV sales rise 6.2% to 157,371 units in Sep

MOSCOW, Oct 4 (PRIME) -- Russia’s sales of new cars and light commercial vehicles (LCVs) rose 6.2% on the year to 157,371 vehicles in September, the Association of European Businesses (AEB) said in a statement on Thursday.

In January–September, sales of cars and LCVs rose 14.9% to 1.129 million units.

“Total market sales in September continue to show positive momentum, on the backdrop of a strong performance in the same period of the previous year. In view of the current market conditions, and the expected VAT increase from January next year, the AEB revises its sales forecast for the full year as follows: 2018 sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Russia are expected to exceed 1.8 million units, or 13% growth on a year-on-year basis,” AEB said quoting Joerg Schreiber, chairman of the AEB Automobile Manufacturers Committee.

Sales of Russia’s largest carmaker AvtoVAZ grew 10% on the year to 31,173 cars in September and 17% to 259,129 units in January–September.
